c. Superintendent’s Report
Superintendent Guy reported that today was the Be Here Initiative Day in New Mexico. The
goal was to have New Mexico schools’ attendance over 90%. Los Alamos schools’ attendance
was terrific with 91.6% the lowest and 96% the highest attendance rate.

The week of September 14 is Homecoming Week. Schools will have an early dismissal on
Friday so that students and families may attend the parade. The parade will go in the opposite
direction this year. It will start at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Walkers will join
the parade at the library and the parade will continue to the old Smith’s grocery store. The
primary reason for this switch is safety. We have had lightning delays in the past. This route
will give us a safe place for students who are waiting for the parade.
